Aaahhhh Beach Photography Sessions. I love doing them. I even ran a giveaway last summer! There is so much for families to get into. I get to be in the ocean. Usually there is a meltdown and that’s always fun to make pictures of (is that mean? I do enjoy it and it makes for a great picture). Plus, for the most part, everyone is having an amazingly fun time. This family wanted a Rhode Island Beach photography session at a beach where their family has a vacation house, a very special place where the spend a ton of time each summer.
One of their favorite activities is looking for sea glass. This Rhode Island beach was perfect for that with big patches of pebbles amongst the sand dunes and sea glass mixed into the pebbles. The kids told me all about the different colors of sea glass and how some colors are much more rare than others. They collect glass each year and keep their collections in mason jars in their bathroom. What a beautiful idea for a long term family project.
Of course, this session was pretty unique for me. I was 6 months pregnant. It was soooooo hot. I’m pretty active when shooting, that’s how I get such interesting pictures, I’m running around with the kids, squatting, swimming, rolling around on the ground. That’s not easy to do with a 6 month baby bump. At least it isn’t for me! I was huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf. Luckily the water felt fantastic and I was with a family that loves to swim together. I think the swimming really made the pictures from their Rhode Island beach photography session extra special.
These pictures are so fun to look back on now that it is getting cold. I’m looking forward to next summer when my little girl will be a big adventurous three-year-old and we’ll be swimming. If you’re interested in your own beach photography session get in touch. I travel to beaches all along the coast: Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, where is your family’s favorite beach?
